Solar writes to Steve Reed

In September the Mayor of London announced that Teddington is one of his four new selected open water swimming spots for London. As it set out on the GLA’s website the Mayor will bring together local communities, companies, government agencies, charities and campaigners to develop an ambitious 10-year plan that will see the river at Teddington become a place that is formally recognised as a location for open water swimming.

The Mayor’s strategy was launched alongside the Secretary of State for the Environment, Steve Reed who had recently approved Thames Water Water Resource Management Plan. The WRMP includes the potential approval of the Teddington DRA, a scheme which SOLAR believes to be in direct conflict with the Mayor’s clean water plans.

Following the Mayor’s launch of the Open Water Swimming Plan, SOLAR wrote to the Secretary of State to make him aware of this contradiction. You can read our letter here
