What is a consultation?

The statutory consultation is an engagement between Thames Water and the public where Thames Water looks for feedback from the public on TDRA. The consultation should include sufficient detail so the public is aware of the environmental impact of the scheme (including social and recreational), the impacts and mitigations available within the scheme, and also when there are aspects of the scheme that can be influenced by the public.

It is an important principle of the planning process that in a statutory consultation the scheme should not be so fixed that the public cannot in fact influence any aspect.

It is important that everyone realise that they can (and should) provide feedback to the consultation on any topic that they feel is relevant. This is regardless of any apparent suggestion by Thames Water. The planning act 2008 is very clear that Thames Water (the applicant) MUST take account of ANY response that is made.
